The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is back with the 8th edition of its Undergraduate Essay Competition, offering Nigerian students a chance to showcase their ideas on local content development in the oil and gas sector.

2024 Essay Topic:

Nigerian Content and Opportunities in African Local Content Advancement

This year’s essay challenges students to explore how local content can create opportunities in Africa, focusing on ways to develop skills and capacity.

Eligibility and Contest Rules:
The competition is open to 100-200 level students from Nigerian public and private universities or polytechnics. The contest runs from 16th September to 14th October 2024. All essays must be submitted online, and no late entries will be accepted.

Participation Steps:
1. Register on the NCDMB Registration Page.
2. Submit a manuscript of no more than 1,500 words.
3. Include your admission letter or a signed attestation letter from your HOD.
4. Provide your contact details (phone and email) during submission.
5. Do not include personal information in the manuscript.

Each participant can only submit one essay, and co-authorship is not allowed.

Evaluation Criteria:
Essays will be judged on clarity, grammar, originality, depth of analysis, and relevance to the industry. Plagiarism checks will be conducted to ensure authenticity. Finalists will be contacted by 28th October 2024 for an interactive assessment.

– 1st Place: N1,000,000
– 2nd Place: N700,000
– 3rd Place: N500,000
– Top 10 finalists will each receive a laptop, and the winning essay will be featured in *Local Content Digest*.
