UNICAL Appoints 16 New Acting HODs, Extends Tenure of One

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, approved these appointments, which are effective from October 2024 to September 2026. Additionally, the Vice Chancellor has extended the tenure of one HOD to ensure the smooth handling of accreditation processes.

The appointments were conveyed through official letters signed by the Vice Chancellor. The new Acting HODs are expected to serve for two years and are tasked with delivering results promptly to maintain optimal departmental productivity.

The newly appointed Acting HODs are:

Dr. Oboyi Joseph (Department of Mathematics)
Dr. Chigozie Uzomba (Department of Paediatrics)
Dr. Andem Andem Bassey (Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology)
Dr. Joseph E. Udosen (Department of Surgery)
Dr. Ekpenyong Nsa (Department of Estate Management)
Surv. Dr. Stephen Utre (Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics)
Dr. Oquetan Ibor (Department of Environmental Management)
Tpl. Eddie James (Department of Urban and Regional Planning)
Dr. Sunday Eneh (Department of Business Management)
Dr. Patrick Mbum (Department of Marketing)
Dr. Daniel Ikpi Ewa (Department of Physiology)
Dr. Ubong Bassey Akpan (Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)
Dr. Patrick Akwaji (Department of Plant and Ecological Studies)
Dr. Ebu Vincent Tawo (Department of Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management)
Dr. Nnette Ekpenyong (Department of Community Medicine)

In addition to the new appointments, Prof. Obi has extended the tenure of Dr. Fidelis Anake Atseye as the Head of the Department of Banking and Finance. This extension, which will run from October 21, 2024, to December 20, 2024, is aimed at ensuring a smooth accreditation process in the department during the upcoming October/November session.

The Vice Chancellor urged all HODs to carry out their duties diligently, warning that failure to meet deadlines or produce expected results would result in sanctions.
